VCU Women’s Basketball Defeats University of North Carolina at Greensboro

VCU returns back to the Stu to defeat UNC-Greensboro

The last time VCU women’s basketball team played inside of the Stu was on November 16th. Prior to today’s game the Rams were 4-4 overall, but their home record was 2-0. This afternoon, the ladies came ready to welcome the anticipating crowd with a thrilling game. The ladies took advantage of endless good looks and led by with 42-39 at halftime. The entire team fed off of each other and nearly every player had points on the board. In the second half, VCU increased both their offense and defense. Within two minutes of the start of the second half, sophomore guard, Chadarryl Clay made a stunning three-pointer. The ladies would continue to take turns at scoring points and by 16:57 they had a nine-point lead of 51-42. The largest lead the ladies had was 66-54, but the Spartans from UNCG made a comeback and the game was tied at 66-66. Coach O’Boyle quickly called for a timeout with 4:30 left in the game. Junior, Adaeze Alaeze and sophomore, Camille Calhoun were able to take the ball the rim, which led to the Spartans causing fouls and sending both ladies to the free-throw line. Adaeze and Calhoun, along with their teammates had an exceptional free-throw percentage in this afternoon’s game. The Rams would have to keep battling to win this match, but great shooting from the field and free-throw line allowed the ladies to win the game with a final score of 80-73. The Rams will take on High Point University at the Stu this upcoming Thursday at 11 a.m. #LetsGoVCU
